YAY MUSIC. I listen to music a lot, and I don't like rap or anything, my favorites are simon and garfunkel and America, Styx, Fleetwood Mac, Neil Diamond, CSNY, and so on. But I usually listen when I get really sad and pretend I'm in a movie and it's a sad part, and then when I get mad I usually listen to a lot of heart and Bon Jovi and Black Sabbath. And then of course instrumental music because of band and junk, usually I like that better than anything else. I just like music, it's soothing and nice, and other times loud and mad. It's a part of y everyday life.
Music plays in instrumental (pun completely intended) role in my life. Band is one of the most important things to me that exists, and I can't really imagine not doing it. (Which is why I don't need a B in chemistry.) I love the feeling of creating something, and Band is special in that a group of different and diverse people can come together and all speak the same language, and enjoy the same things.
As for culture: music and culture are closely related. As our culture has evolved over the years, the music has changed with it. For some reason, most of the music now is autotuned trash, played by computers and lip synced to by the freak of the week. But that's just my opinion.
I've completely devoted myself to music since I was little. All of my mother's children have. My brother Miles plays guitar and sings and my brother Colby is in a little band in Sturgis. I've played clarinet since 6th grade and gotten into all district honors band twice, 7th chair clarinet in 8th grade and 9th chair clarinet my sophomore year. I've also gotten into the Quad State Honors Band, second chair clarinet in gold band. I've learned musical theory and I know a bit about musical composition. I tend to hear pitch well and can figure out music on an instrument from hearing it. I play clarinet, saxophone, and flute. Because music is how I pass my time. Playing an instrument has been scientifically proven to work all parts of your brain and make you think, make you smarter. That's why musicians tend to be the smart kids. Or at least the ones who aren't dumb.
In culture, not many people really have the type of musicianship that used to define music. All that music is today is people singing into microphones and plugging it into computers. Electronic music. Nothing is played live anymore, nothing makes the musician's think.
I listen to music all the time! especially when I'm getting ready. Music plays a huge role on my mood. I can usually go from a sad mood or a bad mood to a pretty decent mood just by listening to music. I HATE with a very deep passion heavy metal music I will NEVER in my entire life listen to it! It makes me want to punch everybody in the face and puts me in a terrible mood! I love rap and country, but mostly rap! :)
I Love music!, i listen to it All day erryday, it plays an important role in my life because im the type of person that just holds like all my feelings in, so music helps me cope with alot of different emotions,,but i only really listen to rap now. and it keeps me in a great mood... Yeah Buddy
This is not fun to answer. It actually makes me think.
I think that the culture has become very music obsessed. There are so many different types and genres. Music is played everywhere. Think about it. It is the main event of dances or parties, it's played at home, in the car, around friends, in class and even at funerals. Music has become something that is more about popularity than meaning or value. You like a song because the radio, television or your friends say that they like it. You don't buy music because of the lyrics or what it says, you buy music because... why? Why do we like music so much? When did it become so important to our daily lives? Answer that.
I listen to certain types of music depending on what kind of mood I'm in. Music is my life. Music also defines a lot of people. You can tell a lot about a person from the type of music they listen to. It always seems to make me feel better, sometimes listening to music is just a way to let it all out. There's always a song for how you're feeling at whatever point in time. Rap and country and pop are my favorites. I won't really listen to anything else, head banging music is TERRIBLE you can't even understand them, they just yell. It's annoying!!!
Music plays a pretty decent role in my life. I listen to it when Im getting ready and especially in the car [riding to the beats] Most people wouldn't think but I listen to all kinds of music. From Dog Fashion Disco to Tupac. I love it all, Lee Brice on 93.3 on the radio to Tyler the Creator :) You can really tune in your feelings to what you hear in a song. I love when I hear a song and it pertains to exactly what it going on in my life. I do agree with Taylor though, music has become something very influential in everyday life!
&& @ Leah, Fleetwood Mac is awesome, I have one of their CD's.
Way late on this. My bad. Anyways, Music is a huge part in not only my life but culture. Especially now. People are defined by our pop culture. People who listen to screamo are "emo", people who listen to country are "hicks", etc.etc. In some cases that is true of course. In my life though, I not only listen to those genres but many more. I find myself to be diverse in many ways, and music is just an open door into a new thought process. I listen to music with criterion.I ask myself questions like what group is this directed toward,What mood is this to project, How do the words or just music itself create an emotional connection to a particular event. Meh. I look at music in a research aspect. Once I put a new music group/artist through my long list of interogating questions, then I can enjoy the music and will be able to stop anazlying it.Other than that, band music I find something completely different. What is given to me, I emerse myself in it. This can be more of a challenge than anything, but I find music so much more rewarding that way.
